Great Allegheny Passage
This is one of America’s best bike trails, where you will discover a nearly level trail along winding rivers, shaded valleys, and traditional small towns. The Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) rail-trail offers 135 miles of hiking and biking between Cumberland, MD, and Duquesne, PA, near Pittsburgh. In Cumberland, the GAP joins the C&O Canal Towpath, creating a continuous trail experience, 320 miles long, to Washington, DC.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater
Fallingwater is the name of a very special house that is built over a waterfall in the Laurel Highlands. Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s most famous architect, designed the house for his clients, the Kaufmann family. Fallingwater was built between 1936 and 1939. It instantly became famous, and today it is a National Historic Landmark.

Flight 93 National Memorial
Four commercial airliners were hijacked on September 11, 2001, and three were steered into the Twin Towers and Pentagon, taking nearly 3,000 lives. Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard one of the planes, Flight 93, the attack on the U.S. Capitol was thwarted. Discover the Visitors Center opened in September 2015 and explore the features of the memorial.

Fort Necessity
The confrontation at Fort Necessity, just east of Uniontown, in the summer of 1754 was the prelude to the war fought by England and France for control of the North American continent. The struggle was known in North America as the French and Indian War and spread around the world as the Seven Years’ War. It ended in 1763 with the removal of French power from North America and India. The action at Fort Necessity was also the first major event in the military career of George Washington. It was the only time he ever surrendered to an enemy.
Laurel Caverns
Laurel Caverns is Pennsylvania’s largest cave, located just 50 miles south of Pittsburgh. The cavern itself is situated beneath a 435 acre geological park. There is a three hour upper and lower caving tour, or a one hour family tour. There are also many other activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Kentuck Knob
Kentuck Knob was built by Wright for I. N. and Bernardine Hagan in the mountains above Uniontown. “There is a sense of beauty, comfort, serenity and harmony in the house and all of its surroundings,” Mrs. Hagan said about the house.

Ohiopyle State Park
Located on the southern reaches of the Laurel Ridge, Ohiopyle State Park encompasses approximately 20,500 acres of rugged natural beauty and serves as the gateway to the Laurel Highlands. Ohiopyle is known for the fast-flowing whitewater of the Youghiogheny River that ranges from Class III to IV and attracts boaters of all skills and ages. Big Mac Museum Restaurant
THE IRWIN, PENNSYLVANIA MCDONALD’S LOCATION details the history of the iconic sandwich. However, the location of the museum rankled the residents of the city where the Big Mac was first sold, almost 40 miles away in Uniontown, PA. The Big Mac was created by western Pennsylvania franchisee Jim Delligatti, and first served in 1967.
