Like biking and motorcycling? The best and most beautiful in the country. History? It goes all the way back to 1600s, and you can see it here. Ridge Rider is the perfect base camp for exploration. Green Ridge State Forest
49,000-acre state forest that borders campground on two sides. Hiking, horseback riding trails, scenic overlooks, designated four-wheel vehicle and mountain biking trails
Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park
Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park, Little Orleans access, 1/4 mile from campground. Good for biking, hiking, horseback riding.
Potomac River
The Potomac River separates Maryland and West Virginia, perfect for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, floating, located 1/4 mile from campground.
Paw Paw Tunnel
The Paw Paw Tunnel was built with more than six million bricks. Opened in 1850 the tunnel has been described as “the greatest engineering marvel along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical “Park.”

Western Maryland Rail-Trail
This paved bicycle trail on the old Western Maryland Railbed now extends 27 miles to Little Orleans, only 1/4 mile from campground with a very nice parking lot.
Sideling Hill
One of the best rock exposures in Maryland shows 850 vertical feet of a syncline formed nearly 350 million years ago.
East Coast Sturgis
Annual motorcycle event taking place adjacent to our campground the second week of August. Includes bands, games, runs, and vendors. Call 301-478-3421.
Spring Gap Farm

ATV Trail
Martin Hill Trail is located 30 minutes away in PA and is 18 miles long. Call Buchanan Forest headquarters at 717-485-3148 for details.
Great Allegheny Passage
The Great Allegheny Passage is a 150-mile system of biking and hiking trails that connects Cumberland, MD and Pittsburgh, PA. In 2006, the southern end of the trail was completed, making the connection at Cumberland, MD to the C&O Canal towpath.
Rocky Gap Casino
The nearby Rocky Gap Resort has a beautiful Jack Nicklaus golf course open to the public. The Rocky Gap Casino has table games, slot machines, and five restaurants with bars.
Fort Hill Rifle and Pistol Club
There’s a popular shooting range within 12 miles of the campgrounds for hunter-campers who need to work on their aim.
