The Paw Paw Tunnel was built with more than six million bricks. Opened in 1850 the tunnel has been described as “the greatest engineering marvel along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical “Park.”

This paved bicycle trail on the old Western Maryland Railbed now extends 27 miles to Little Orleans, only 1/4 mile from campground with a very nice parking lot.
One of the best rock exposures in Maryland shows 850 vertical feet of a syncline formed nearly 350 million years ago.

The Great Allegheny Passage is a 150-mile system of biking and hiking trails that connects Cumberland, MD and Pittsburgh, PA. In 2006, the southern end of the trail was completed, making the connection at Cumberland, MD to the C&O Canal towpath.
The nearby Rocky Gap Resort has a beautiful Jack Nicklaus golf course open to the public. The Rocky Gap Casino has table games, slot machines, and five restaurants with bars.
There’s a popular shooting range within 12 miles of the campgrounds for hunter-campers who need to work on their aim.
