Ocrafolk Festival on Ocracoke Island – June 2-4

Celebrating 23 years, this family-friendly festival on Ocracoke Island brings music, storytelling and artisans together for one weekend each June. Plus – it’s free to attend! You’re sure to have an awesome time, so bring everyone along for the ride! Get ready for an amazing weekend of fun performances.

This year will include longtime festival favorites with some exciting new performers to mix it up. Artisans will be set up next to the performance areas with unique arts, crafts, photography, sculpture, wood carvings, jewelry, textiles, and more. Plus, the kids will enjoy activities just for them.

It all takes place at the Berkley Manor with plenty of parking available at the National Park Service parking lot nearby.

Smokin’ Grass on the Outer Banks – July 8

Enjoy a full day of bluegrass and BBQ! Be sure to check out their website for advance tickets. This year, the event takes place at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, with music from The Kitchen Dwellers, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Breaking Grass, Songs from the Road Band, Into the Fog, and Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road.

I Love New Music Festival – July 29

This music festival showcases several genres and some of the top local musicians in the area. It’s an enjoyable way to spend a day listening to live music, drinking beer and eating delicious food.

Bluegrass Island Festival on Folly Beach – October 19-21

The Outer Banks is home to many great festivals and one that stands out is the Bluegrass Island Festival. This large gathering brings musicians and fans from across America together for three days of music and food.

At this festival, there is an impressive array of artists and bands to choose from; plus, there are plenty of chances to listen to local musicians perform. Popular local acts include Sam Bush and The Steeldrivers, The Dan Tyminski Band, Leftover Salmon, Rhonda Vincent, and AJ Lee & Blue Summit.

The island is transformed into a bluegrass oasis with this festival each year in a beautiful venue overlooking the water.
